The Atlantic Chapter members represent many disciplines, with membership open to anyone directly and indirectly involved with the environmental and health and safety fields. Our members include, environmental site assessors and auditors, engineers, solicitors, government employees, financial industry representatives, and other professionals working in these areas.
The Atlantic Chapter is a 2006 amalgamation of two long standing organizations; The Association for Environmental Auditing (APEA) and Canadian Environmental Auditing Association (CEAA), to form the first Regional Chapter of the AAC in Canada. Both original organizations were founded in 1991 with APEA establishing a system of certification for both auditing and site assessment professionals in Atlantic Canada. CEAA established a certification program exclusive to auditors only with a national membership base. In recent years both organizations have moved away from certification and have partnered with ECO-Canada/CECAB in the certification process. The Atlantic Chapter now concentrates on providing environmental training, networking and general services to its members.
- Professional development of knowledge through workshops,
conferences, and programs
- Provide networking opportunities with colleagues and other
related/interested professions
- Represent environmental auditor interests in the development and
maintenance of ISO standards
- Participation in the CECAB Certification Committee and
Sub-Committee to influence new requirements and modifications
to auditor and site assessment certification programs
- Act as a voice in developing government legislation and guidelines
in respect to Health and Environmental Safety auditing
- Access to information for members from partner organizations
