Investigative Interview Dana Rodden, MetaCentre Our members told us that they wanted to tune up their skills, so we have arranged a full day workshop with one of Canada's experts in this field of interviewing techniques: Dana Rodden of MetaCentre. Dana Rodden has more that two decades of experience as a practitioner and trainer in the criminal justice field. This workshop, offered at a bargain basement rate, will be relevant for all EHS auditors, managers, professional staff and consultants who are involved in interviewing; whether in audits, investigations or the implementation of their programs. To give you a small example of what is in store from Dana, the following quotes are brief excerpts from his work: Profile of the Successful Interviewer - Outlines the 6 basic characteristics: integrity, intuitiveness, flexibility, resourcefulness, skill diversity, and preparation. The investigative interviewer needs to balance compassion and rapport with control, personal boundaries, and healthy skepticism. Systematic Investigative Method (SIM) - Strategic thinking is rooted in a method. With SIM the interviewer can guide the subject towards the objective. Without a strategy the interviewer can lose both control and a desired outcome. Investigative Interviewing explores the entire process of preparation, cooperation, evaluation, and persuasion. A break for Lunch will be held 12:00 - 1:00 PM. |

Practical Use of Risk Assessment for Audit Planning and Program Management Alex Eddington, Exceed Management Inc., Calgary Risk Assessment is often talked about, but not often applied effectively to audits and audit programs. This workshop will give you useful skills on how to apply risk assessment for planning and prioritizing your audit program; which locations to audit, how often, for how long, etc. In addition, the workshop will teach you methods for applying risk assessment to individual audits and audit criteria so you can ensure high priority criteria and risks are adequately covered while reducing the focus on less important areas - making sure the distribution of audit resources is getting the biggest bang for the buck. A break for Lunch will be held 12:00 - 1:00 PM. |
